## § 1-8 Board of Fire Commissioners.

Balt., Md., Code art. 9, § 1-8 (2026)

(a) There is a Board of Fire Commissioners, as established in <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="VII|§49">City Charter Article VII, § 49</cite>.

(b) The Board of Fire Commissioners comprises 5 members appointed by the Mayor in accordance with <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="IV|§6">City Charter Article IV, § 6</cite>.

(c) The Mayor shall designate one member of the Board as its President in accordance with <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="VII|§50|(b)">City Charter Article VII, § 50(b)</cite>.

(d) The term of each member is 4 years, concurrent with the Mayor’s term of office, and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.

(e) The Board of Fire Commissioners has the powers and duties specified in <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="VII">City Charter Article VII</cite>, §§ <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="VII|§49">49</cite> to <cite data-doc="City of Baltimore, Md., Charter" data-path="VII|§52">52</cite>.
