COMCOR 31.62.01 Abandoned Vehicle Storage Fee

The purpose of this regulation is to increase the storage fee from $10.00 to $15.00 per day for the impoundment of abandoned vehicles. The assessment of a storage fee is authorized per Sections 31-62(c), 31-63, and 31-65 of Chapter 31, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Montgomery County Code 1984, and Sections 25-204(b)(4) and C(I)(ii), of the Transportation Volume of the Annotated Code of Maryland 1977 (1984 Cum. Supp.)

A storage fee of $15.00 per day applies when an abandoned vehicle is taken into custody and stored on property owned by or under the control of Montgomery County, Maryland. In addition to the charges by Montgomery County, owners of abandoned motor vehicles also may be liable to private contractors for storage before the vehicles were removed to Montgomery County storage facilities.

If a court holds that part of this regulation is invalid, the invalidity does not affect other parts.

This regulation will become effective thirty (30) calendar days after the deadline for comments published in the Register.
