## Title 8. Real Estate Investment Trusts

### Subtitle 6. Liabilities, Service of Process, and Miscellaneous Provisions

#### Section 8-601

(a) The liability of a real estate investment trust extends to as much of the trust estate, including the whole, as necessary to discharge the liability.

(b) A shareholder or trustee of a real estate investment trust shall have the immunity from liability described under Sec. 5-419 of the Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article.

#### Section 8-601.1

Sections 2-113, 2-116 through 2-118, 2-201(c), 2-309(a) and (e), 2-313, 2-502(e), 2-503(b), 2-504(f), and 2-701 through 2-707 of this article and, except as otherwise provided in Sec. 8-601 of this subtitle or in the declaration of trust, Sec. 2-405.1 of this article shall apply to real estate investment trusts.

#### Section 8-602

In an action against a real estate investment trust doing business in the State, process shall be served on any officer or resident agent of the real estate investment trust.
