The Board shall: license qualified individuals to provide sign language interpretation services; on or before July 1, 2027, establish and publish licensing requirements for sign language interpreting in all settings; provide technical assistance to license applicants and other interested persons; promote the profession of sign language interpreting, including providing workshops and trainings to raise public awareness and to facilitate professional development; and perform any other duties assigned by the Director. In addition to any duties set forth elsewhere in this subtitle and with the support of the Office, the Board shall: administer the provisions of this part; adopt bylaws for the conduct of its proceedings; adopt a seal; keep a record of its proceedings; keep a file on each applicant for a license; establish a visiting sign language interpreter registry; develop and maintain a website that shall include: a portal to accept license applications and related documentation, complaints, and registrations of visiting sign language interpreters; and a publicly searchable database of sign language interpreters; and reasonably seek additional funding sources. In addition to any powers set forth elsewhere, the Board may adopt regulations to carry out the provisions of this part.
