In this chapter, the following terms have the meanings indicated. Terms Defined. “Claimant” means an individual who submits a claim for unemployment insurance benefits. “Department” means the Maryland Department of Labor. “Employer” means a person or governmental entity who employs at least one individual within the State and who is an interested party in the determination of the claimant's claim. “Unemployment insurance office” means: Any local office that processes claims for unemployment insurance benefits; or The central office of the Office of Unemployment Insurance of the Maryland Department of Labor.
