The philosophy and program objectives, outcomes, or competencies shall be: Developed by the nursing faculty and represent a consensus of that faculty; Consistent with the characteristics of the specific type of nursing education program; Communicated to those responsible for and participating in the program; and Periodically evaluated. The philosophy of the program shall: Be consistent with that of the controlling institution and governing body; Articulate beliefs about individuals and their health, environment, nursing, adult education, and learning; and Serve as a foundation for developing, implementing, and evaluating the educational program. The program objectives, outcomes, or competencies shall: Evolve from the philosophy of the program; Be clearly stated, measurable, and attainable; Serve as a foundation for planning, implementing, and evaluating the program; and Identify the expected competencies of the graduate.
