The Board shall establish a Respiratory Care Professional Standards Committee composed of the following individuals: Three licensed respiratory care practitioners; One licensed physician whose specialty is thoracic surgery; One licensed physician whose specialty is pulmonary medicine; One licensed physician whose specialty is anesthesiology; and One consumer member who meets the requirements specified in Health Occupations Article, §14-5A-06(b), Annotated Code of Maryland. Chair. The Committee shall elect a chair from among its members. The chair shall serve for a term of 2 years. Tenure. The term of a member is 3 years. A member continues to serve until a successor is appointed. A member appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor has been appointed. A member may not serve more than 2 consecutive terms. Vacancy. If a vacancy occurs on the Committee, the Board shall appoint a new member to serve, as provided in §C of this regulation. Quorum. A majority of the members then serving on the Committee constitutes a quorum. Business may not be conducted at a Committee meeting unless there is a quorum. The Committee may develop and make recommendations to the Board in any matters related to regulating the practice of respiratory care.
