### Chapter 04 — Practice of Dental Hygiene

#### Regulation .13 Continuing Education and Renewal for Local Anesthesia and Manual Curettage.

*COMAR 10.44.04.13*

A. A dental hygienist is not required to renew the Board recognition to:

  (1) Administer local anesthesia; or

  (2) Perform manual curettage in conjunction with scaling and root planing.

B. A dental hygienist who has successfully completed the following since graduating from an approved school of dental hygiene may receive continuing education credit toward renewal of their dental hygiene license:

  (1) The 28-hour Board-approved course of instruction for local anesthesia;

  (2) The 2-hour Board-approved course of instruction in manual curettage in conjunction with scaling and root planing; and

  (3) The CDCA Local Anesthesia Examination for Dental Hygienists.
