The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Model Specifications for Breath Alcohol Ignition Interlock Devices (BAIID) 57 FR 11772 (1992), as amended, are incorporated by reference as the specifications ignition interlock devices must meet under this chapter. The Administration shall provide notice and a reasonable implementation period to develop a transition and implementation plan for the approval and use of BAIIDs when new NHTSA Model Specifications are released.
