Steering gear shall be approved by the chassis manufacturer and designed to ensure safe and accurate performance when a vehicle is operated with a maximum load at maximum speed. The steering adjustment mechanism shall be accessible to perform required external adjustments. Only changes approved by the chassis manufacturer may be made in the steering apparatus. The steering system design shall provide for lubrication of wear points, if necessary.
