An instructor shall: Have a satisfactory driving record for at least 3 previous consecutive years before applying for approval; and Maintain a satisfactory record while approved. An instructor's driving record is unsatisfactory if the instructor has, within the last 3 years: Accumulated four or more active points on the instructor's driving record; Been convicted of driving or operating, or both, a motor vehicle while intoxicated or while under the influence of an illegally used, controlled, or dangerous substance; Been convicted of any felony involving use of a motor vehicle; or Had the instructor's driver's license suspended or revoked.
