This chapter describes the Department's voluntary Manure Transportation Project required by the Maryland Water Quality Improvement Act of 1998. The Project is intended to facilitate the transport of poultry manure and livestock manure from farms in all areas of the State that are subject to phosphorus overenrichment. This Project is intended to encourage voluntary participation to remove or redirect at least 20 percent of the poultry manure produced in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties.
