Upon prior written approval by the Department, a producer, shipper, packer, or other handler of organic products may: Apply disinfectants, as specified by the Department, to storage containers and handling equipment; or Apply post-harvest sulfur-based fungicides or botanical insecticides. A producer, shipper, packer, or other handler of organic products may not apply to certified products at any point during post-harvest handling, transporting, or storage: Synthetic fumigants; Sprouting inhibitors, ripeners, or growth regulators; Preservatives; Coloring agents; Ionizing radiation; or Waxes, except beeswax, or oils.
