An applicant for initial certification shall pay to the State Fire Marshal an application fee of $100 and shall pass a comprehensive written examination. Initial certifications are valid for varying amounts of time, depending on the date of certification. Applicants are required to renew their certification before the expiration date by submitting a renewal application and a $50 renewal fee to the State Fire Marshal. Renewal certifications are valid for 3 years.
